Santorini Volcano & Hot Springs
Santorini is blessed with extraordinary natural scenery that has been forged by volcanic eruptions, along with other milder forces of nature, throughout the millennia. Across Santorini, there are two small islands of black lava, known as Nea Kammeni and Palaia Kammeni. Nea Kammeni is very famous among locals and visitors for its therapeutic hot springs. The characteristic yellow waters that run the isle, contain a generous amount of sulfur and are much sought-after for their healing properties, and more specifically the small cove of Agios Nikolaos—a source of invigoration and health.
Walk along the solid black lava rims of the steaming volcano, and explore the otherworldly landscape of the islet. After a short, awe-inspiring hike, you will find the crater of Nea Kammeni, along with other cracks and crevices bursting with sulfuric vapors. Palaia Kammeni, is the oldest volcanic isle of the two, also rich in healing hot springs. Both islets offer an incredible view of the traditional Cycladic villages hanging on the caldera cliffs.
